Everyone should read this book! The author, Cynthia Lord, is a mother of an autistic child which makes this book even more appealing. This endearing family could be your neighbors. Read how they cope, love and live and have fun along the way.
We just started to read Rules in a 5th grade literature circle. The kids are loving the book and so far, the conversations have been great. Catherine's brother David's strange behavior is explained and right away you have empathy for her day to day experinces with him. There is enough humor to ease the seriousness of his disablilty as he is introduced through Catherine's eyes. We have only read the first chapter but everyone can't wait for tomorrow's class!
How did all you fifth graders at Stowe enjoy "Rules"? You should be just about done reading it! Would you like to share any of your thoughts with the Craftsbury students? We would love to hear from you.
This is your Library Blog. It is a way to share your opinions regarding this year's DCF and Green Mountain Book Award nominees. Feel free to share your thoughts! Also...if you have any other book recommendations-write them up in the appropriate posting area.
